Crab Clan
Clan Champion: Hida Tsunehori
Hida: Hida Tsunehori
Hiruma: Hiruma Gomasa
Kaiu: Kaiu Tadanori
Kuni: Kuni Yoki (F)
Toritaka: Toritaka Hirotada
Yasuki: Yasuki Sumitsune (F)
(F) - Frau
The Crab clan stands strong, it has to ,because the Shadowlands attack them with such fury like never before. The days of lulls between assaults are almost over, the beasts attack by day and by night. The toll is heavy, never before has the twenty goblin winter lasted into a second decade. Like a millstone the combat atop the Kaiu wall grinds the Crab forces into dust, but the Crab are the mountain and will not yield.
Standing in front of the Crab is Tsunehori, a worthy heir to the memory of Kisada, O-Ushi and Kuon. His understanding of the Shadowlands is formidable and his skill in battle great, but the champion of the Crab clan refuses to acknowledge that. Some say he is wise beyond his years, since he listens intently to advice, even from a low ranked nikutai. Some say that he is at a loss for answers, since everything the Crab tried failed to decrease the amounts of attacks on the wall. Whatever it is that makes Tsunehori think, it is of importance.
Bitter, this is the word that defines Hiruma Gomasa best. The constant warfare hits the Hiruma first before continuing forward to the wall. The Hiruma fight, sneak around and try to survive. The most experienced of the new generation can sneak up to a Scorpion Shinobi and strangle him with their bare hands while standing in the middle a busy room. But even skill must bow before mass, and as every Hiruma falls, Gomasa grows a bit more bitter.
Yasuki Sumitsune lives a happy life serving faithfully her own clan and the #^&*. Even though she isn’t the current ?"#$% she is close enough to make sure no %^#$ decisions hinder the Crab clan. The old lady follows in the footsteps of Yasuki herself, guiding the champion of the clan with wise advice and ready coin.
If there is one thing Kaiu Tadanori knows, then it's how to make things. From plans to reinforce the Great Wall to new tool designs, he is the man to go to. And he's a busy man because of that, after all ruling a family of scholars and artisans also takes time. But he's happy. At least as happy as a Crab under current circumstances can be, which is saying much. He also knows that as long the Kaiu remain strong the wall will hold, meaning safety and security for the whole empire.
Hirotada and his family, the Toritaka, are distant from the fighting that hits the rest of their clan. They live in peace, at least as much peace a family of spirit hunters can get. With the current troubles in the empire they are the first to be called when spirits prove a match for other samurai. The Kitsu and Kuni are too occupied to respond, and so the mysterious and aloof Toritaka Phantom Hunters travel through Rokugan and earn a worthy name for themselves and their family.
Kuni Yoki is the oldest crab Daimyo, she is also the one most bothered by the Shadowlands. Things are really wrong in her eyes, as what is happening does not conform to any patterns of activity the Shadowlands has displayed before. She doesn't have the resources to find out why, and this bothers her even more. The Kuni are stretched thin, their expertise is needed everywhere, and they just don't have the manpower to fulfil all requests. If this continues, Yoki will never be able to retire.
