Bleibt gesund
Eure Würfelmeister

Turanshush, Markayn Marches, Forge World of the Adeptus Mechanicus

A hot and wet wind blew across the top of the Datateocalli, two white-robed men stood precariously close to the edge of the platform, their bodies tense with apprehension.
'You are worried, why?"
'I'm not worried master, merely wary of the duty that has been assigned to me.'
'Wariness? This coming from you Xicotencatl? Omnissiah preserve us from uncertain priests.'
'There is no uncertainty, only the will of the Omnissiah.'
'Religious doctrine will not ease your discomfort, it will help but only the truth will answer your doubts.'
'Then tell me "the" truth master.'
'I wish I could apprentice, but I do not know it for the truth is hidden in the stars.'
'Then I will travel them in accordance to the council's wishes.'
The younger man began to descend the steps of the pyramid.
'Never forget where you are from young priest, this will one day save you.'
The words of the older priest were swallowed by the howling wind.

Ajax
Class: Secutor
Type: Light Cruiser
Event:
'During a routine transport of Mechanicus personnel between Scintilla and the Lathes the ship plunged into a low level warp anomaly. This caused severe damage to the ship and crew population. The ship must undergo repairs to return to duty. Praise the Omnissiah"
Addendum:
The transport mission brought the Skitarii Tribune Gracchus Dacius for his investiture as Legate of a Skitarii Legion (Legio XXIV Gemina). His previous association with the Inquisition led to a discreet investigation about possible sabotage. Nothing was found, the Inquisition executed the Navigator and his Retinue, no charges were presented to the Archmagi of the Lathes.

"The servants of the Omnissiah - a look at the Tech-Priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus"
by Avellar Villayne
Chapter 87, Book 24
"...as to the robes and colors worn on the second Forge World of the Markayne Marches, Turnashush, the coloration differs from the established red/crimson of the Mechanicum. The reasons for this are not clear, however the traditions displayed by the Tech-Priests and their architecture point toward a correlation to a sect dwelling in the Segmentum Pacificus called the Iron Priests (see Book 10 for more information)..."
"The primary color of their robes is white and the priests take care not to soil their robes by performing unnecessary rituals. The main specialization of a Tech-Priest is displayed in the use of a color trim around the edges of the robes."
"...it seems that the less specialized Magos Errant and the space faring Magos Explorator prefer to use multi-colored trims to accentuate their broad ability compared to the focused understanding of their other brethren. The Explorators often don red robes when traveling with other (non-Turanshush) Tech-priests, as to the reason for this..."

Somewhere in the Koronus Expanse

The sound was unmistakable, heavy mining servitors excavated an abandoned ship buried deep into the soil of this jungle covered world. Mixed with the heavy thudding sound of their tools were the high beeps of Tech-Priests communicating in binary, Servo Skulls buzzing around and the clipped sound bursts of Skitarii patrols exchanging tactical data. In short, it was a hymn to the everlasting glory of the Omnissiah, or so Xicotencatl thought.
He was chosen to oversee this excavation, but had little hope to find anything worth his time, the vessel was just too damaged to be good for anything.
After an eternity of waiting the servitors broke through the mangled hull of the ship and the work ground to a halt, as the Tech Guards prepared to screen the entering Tech-Priests from any harm, a small throng of Auspex-equipped Servo Skulls hovered above the entrance scanning the cavernous insides of the wreck. Bored almost to the death Xicotencatl wiped his hands on his red robe (he hated the color from the moment he had to wear it) and motioned to his underlings that he would be entering first into the yawning nothingness that was the abandoned ship.

[hr]

Several hours later…

The search party split into several smaller ones long ago to explore the decks of the ship. They had to use the most brute methods to open doors and punch through walls to move around. Sometimes a piece or two was found damaged and salvageable, but it was still nothing compared to the effort the crews have put into their work.
‘Tech-Priest Marc0N1u5 to Magos Xicotencatl. We have found the main Databank. But it will take time to access it and see if anything can be recovered.’
‘Acknowledged.’ Xicotencatl closed the connection and sighed, he was standing awkwardly on what was formerly the side of the ship, with the roof to his left and the floor to his right. Two Mech-Wrights were trying to activate the hydraulics of the door that blocked their way to the officers quarters. ‘Move!’ Xicotencatl waved them away as he thumbed the activator on his melta cutter. In less than a minute a metal slab that was the door slammed onto the bulkhead. ‘I don’t want stand here and rust watching you “trying” ’.
The corridors they entered were richly appointed, once. Now they were destroyed, rusted and worthless. The cabins were empty, the personal effects of the officers gone with the time, and even the polished green marble floor wasn’t looking good. ‘Damn this ship! Isn’t there anything worth it in here? It’s nothing more than scrap metal.’ Xicotencatl was fuming inside and out, he spent two days digging the ship out and it was all for naught.
A Skitarii guard came to him and after making the Cogwheel began ‘Sir! There is a heavily locked door down the corridor, from the looks of it was hermetically sealed.’
‘Very well, I’ll be there in a moment.’ The Explorator inhaled through his respirator and using quick sound bursts sang a hymn to the Omnissiah. He was thankful for the audio compression that allowed him to sing it in two minutes instead of the standard five hours. A benefit of being a priest of an understanding god, he mused to himself.
The door was solid and without ornaments, long rusted patterns showed a very utilitarian design amid the overstated cabins and corridors of the officers section. The stasis locks were dented but not destroyed and the overall system was still functional, albeit without pressure and power. ‘Get me a servitor with a hydraulic pump and one with a capacitor.’
The work went quickly, even though the door was now part of the floor. With a loud hiss it moved open and stood agape, like a pit into nothing.
‘Sent down a rope and scan for any security measures. Then I’ll go in.’ This might be it he thought, a secured chamber, in stasis, and still sealed after an eternity.

The room was large and in pristine condition. Weapons were arrayed in neat compartments, all marked with the name and rank of the owner. Bolt Pistols hung beside Power Swords, a Powerfist rested on a pedestal still connected to it with power cables. It was a treasure trove. Ornate sets of Carapace armour lined the other wall, all marked with the Aquila and the markings of the Battlefleet. Xicotencatl knew that just showing them to the Admiralty would allow the Mechanicus to receive grants and permissions. Presenting them as gifts, would probably do much more. He instructed the Tech-Priests to carefully remove every single weapon from this room, with no exceptions. He wondered a bit about the empty wall that, as the door before, served as the floor for the upturned ship. There was something missing here. He knelt and took out a small personal Auspex. Turning it on he chanted the Song of Revelation to steady himself and help him think. Gently probing the floor he opened a hidden latch and found an activation system. ‘Get me the capacitor and set up a temporary floor so I won’t fall in. There’s another room behind this one.’

[hr]

He never saw anything so artful and intricate. Tiny diamond teeth embedded into a filigree chain, creating an almost continuous blade. A grip that was soft and almost malleable at one time, sure and steady at the other. Even the crosspiece and the casing were exquisite, made out of the finest ceramic compound he ever saw. This wasn’t the crude weapon of a lesser man, this wasn’t something that one requisitioned from an armoury. No, this was a weapon worthy of a master. It must’ve taken years to create it and now it would be his.
Xixotencatl looked upon the Chainsword with admiration, it’s previous owner had a good taste, even though he used a statue made out of alabaster to hold the sword. It was an angel of death, so common to the imperial iconography. But this one held the sword in offering and Xicotencatl was grateful. “I claim this sword and this ship as a prize for me, the Cult Mechanicus and the Omnissiah!’
